I Spy Spiedo

You wouldn’t typically associate your casual trip to Westfield with culinary talent right? But the times they are a-changing friends, Spiedo is on the list of great new eateries to grace the snazzy Level 6 dining precinct of Westfield Sydney.

Spiedo, a casual inviting Italian restaurant and bar that is abuzz with vibrant activity from the kitchen. The allure of an open kitchen creates some appetite-inducing entertainment with the chefs chatting away in the romance of the Italian-tongue!

The fit-out is sleek with neutral tones, high-ceilings, warming timber table tops and playful black and white tiles are set off with bursts of emerald green in the kitchen, with the chef’s donning eye-catching green aprons. The restaurant has been designed to suit an array of hungry individuals, need an escape from the EOFYS credit card drain? Need a quick business meeting in a quiet corner? Or maybe you just want an easy-breezy comfy breakfast, lunch or dinner? Done, done and done!

But what about the all-important food?! Well, you’re in good hands…

If you’ve been to Ormeggio at the Spit (and taken advantage of our Ormeggio offer of course!), you will already be familiar with the talents of Alessandro Pavoni. Alessandro has a reputation for creating supremely wonderful Italian food. Alessandro has an innate ability to understand Italian cuisine stemming from his upbringing in the region of Lombardy, Northern Italy.

Spiedo (pronounced ‘spi-EH-do’) is named after the dish ‘Spiedo Bresciano’ –a traditional Brescian way of spit-roasting meats of chicken, duck leg, pork scotch fillet, and pork ribs, on a unique rotisserie, specially imported from Brescia, Italy. This dish is often featured as a special especially in the colder months.

We would certainly suggest trying some of the fresh pasta goodness, there’s no better way to have pasta than freshly made! If you’re feeling adventurous, try out the Lumache brasate–braised snails, spinach & croutons. But our pick is the Fesa di Agnello: slow roasted lamb rump cooked as it should be—with meat that simply melts!

Cleanse your palette with a dessert cocktail, The Nutty Italian: Pistachio gelato, Frangelico & Tuaca… Yum! Or simply move over to the bar ‘Stuzzi’ and make yourself at home at any time of morning, noon or evening!

Gone are the days of tired food-court fast food… hooray!
